I went to re-connect the iPod to the computer and it wouldn't work, the computer recognized that it was a removeable drive and would charge the ipod but would not let me download any of my songs. I've now had to remove the card and replace with an apple recommended firewire card, this Nisis is not a recommended board by Apple and it can cause problems with it, so fickle! I also have to add (it may say it on the box) but this card is not certified by Microsoft
Anyway if you want to purchase a board to use with your iPod I recommend you buy a Belkin (texas instruments) which is in fact suggested by apple.
It was a useful lesson to learn, don't make the same mistake as me. If you are buying this board to use with a camara etc, I would visit the manufacturers of the item and see what they recommend.
Happy Firewiring.
Note that it is not quite fully plug-and-play compatible - it has to be installed in a low-numbered PCI slot (ideally the one closest to the AGP card, if you have one). If is installed in a lower-priority slot, it may not be able to claim the resources it needs, and won't work. So you may find yourself levering out your existing cards and moving them all down one to get this card to work - which is slightly inconvenient.
