| Customer Reviews: cross platform, fast set-up and no ghosts May 5, 2004 Christina Lamb 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This unit was very simple to set up and I had my Mac & PC running off the same keyboard, monitor & mouse within 30 minutes of opening the box. Be very careful to order the correct additional cables to go with it though. I think it's fair enough selling them separately as customers needs will vary, but this might catch some people out. I bought one set of PS/2 (round-ended connector) KVM cables plus one USB (flat connector) set. The Omniview cables are good quality and colour coded & included audio too. I don't think Amazon sell the USB set though & prices vary massively. If you want to use a Mac keyboard or mouse with an ADB (round-ended)connection, you'll need to buy an adapter for that as well, ADB to PS/2. A USB keyboard or mouse needs a USB to PS/2 adapter, mine originally came with one but this is another little detail to check if you're buying with a deadline on returns. Set-up is explained clearly & it's very easy to follow. Once you've got all the cables in, the cover snaps over the top & tidies all the connections away very neatly. I really like the design. If you use any adapters you might have to fit the extension kit (2 are included in the box) or there may be difficulty getting the cover shut. Once it was all set up, the whole thing worked brilliantly. There's a little bit of mis-matching using a PC keyboard with the Mac, but the commands work fine. I also discovered my mouse didn't want to scroll anymore on the Mac, but I suspect this might be fixable. There was absolutely no ghosting or any change whatsoever in the image quality.

I have had this for over a year now and it has always worked perfectly. Looked good and works as it should. How much better can you get?

This KVM looks great and has an excellent system for keeping the cables tidy, however when factoring in the cost of the seperate cables required is rather expensive. It is also very easy to set up. The KVM turned out not to be compatible with my Microsoft wireless keyboard, however, - or, according to the tech support any other wireless keyboard and mouse, so you may want to avoid this KVM if you are using wireless keyboard or mouse. The image quality on the second port is also distinctly poorer than that of the first port. Although it is still pretty good, the difference in quality is very noticable and was not what I expected.
This product does not work February 19, 2008 Mzzl (Amsterdam) I bought this product, and severely regret it.
It would not work with any of the half dozen different keyboards I tried, and refused to accept any but the first mouse i tried with it. The worst part is, the thing constantly emitted an extremely loud beeping noise, like a car alarm going off.
I followed all the steps in the trouble shooting section, but to no avail.
The manual suggested flashing the firmware, but this function did not work either.
Customer support was unresponsive.
This was definitely the last Belkin product I'll ever waste my money on.
